VR software for independent psychologists

You run your own practice and need to know whether VR fits your room, schedule and budget. With VRET, you guide the session from a browser while your client wears the headset. Start with a specific use that makes sense for your work.

What to decide before choosing a platform

VRET team · Updated September 10, 2026

01Build a routine you can manage on your own

Check the headset charge, connection and scenario before the appointment. Allow time to explain the task, adjust the headset and agree on a stop signal. After the session, review the information you want to record and prepare the equipment for the next person.

A headset can be used in successive appointments; you do not need one for every client. Check the compatible model and the space required for the scenario. Standard includes a licence for one headset; the physical equipment is purchased separately.

02Choose a scenario around a clinical task

Start with a situation you already work with and check whether the catalog provides useful stimuli. In a demo, you can explore an auditorium, an aircraft cabin or a height environment and see what the clinician can change during a session.

Separate available scenarios from items in development. An educational page about a condition does not establish that the product includes a complete environment for it. Review the actual scene and its controls before deciding.

03Budget with your existing practice in mind

Include the software subscription, current headset price, accessories and preparation time. If you estimate a return, use your margin and a conservative level of use. Dividing the subscription by the gross fee of an appointment does not establish profitability.

Set a review point and assess actual use, preparation time and how the tool fits your work. Purchasing VR does not guarantee new clients, higher fees, insurance reimbursement or clinical outcomes.

What to try in your demo

  1. 01

Explore a scenario relevant to your work.

  2. 02

Start, adjust and stop a session from the browser.

  3. 03

Review equipment, session records and the full budget.

Also review security and data handling and published evidence. Evidence for a technique is not the same as a published clinical trial of VRET itself.

Questions before introducing virtual reality

Can I use VRET as the only clinician in my practice?

Yes. You can start with a licence for one headset and use the control panel from a compatible device. Check the room, equipment and scenarios against your own workflow.

Does the software choose an intervention for me?

No. Assessment, suitability, goals and follow-up remain the clinician’s responsibility. The software provides a setting and controls for a professionally guided session.

Will VR pay for itself in two appointments?

That cannot be promised. It depends on actual use, costs and margin. Any cost calculation should be treated as a scenario, not a forecast of additional income.

Is the demo a therapy appointment?

No. It is a product demonstration for professionals. Bring general workflow questions without sending identifiable client information.
